In June I finally decided to up my participation and present at a Pecha Kucha. I’ve been going to every Dayton based PK since my friends Jamie & Juliet presented at Volume 12 in 2012 and have always enjoyed the varied topics and all of the vibrant people at the events. Pecha Kucha 27 was held at St Mary Church near Downtown Dayton.
If you are unfamiliar with PK, it is basically a short presentation delivered with 20 slides which appear on screen for 20 seconds each. So, a lot of information is presented in a short, concise amount of time. Each of the speakers chooses a topic which they are passionate about. Typically the topic has nothing to do with their career and none of them can be sales pitches or promotional. The event takes place quarterly and moves to different locations around the Dayton area. It is a great time where you get to see interesting building all around the community, meet interesting people and hear about topics you might have no knowledge about.

I opted to talk about the Yellow Cabaret events which I have been presenting for the last few years near the Oregon District at the Yellow Cab Tavern. After I turned in my slides I was informed that my last couple veered too closely to promotional and that I’d have to change them. I had no problem swapping them out with more fun pictures from the events.
The day of the event went smoothly and I was happy to see that a few of my friends would also be presenting. I was introduced to the MC who also happened to be a friend, so I was feeling great. I also saw several friends who I haven’t seen in quite some time as well as a few close friends of mine who came down in support.
Since PK is all about the images and presentation I’ll let the video of mine do the talking for me:
