Up in the Aether 2013
This past weekend (May 24-27, 2013) we went to an amazing steampunk con in Detroit, Michigan called Up in the Aether. This con holds a special place in my heart since it is the rebirth of the first steampunk event I ever went to: the World Steam Expo in May 2010. At that con not only did I finally get to see Abney Park live, but also was taken by the wonderful outfits and inventiveness.
This one con set us on our path to start our own airship, Airship Passepartout, and to be very involved in the general community. However, this Michigan base has become one of our most important alliances and includes many people who we now call our close friends…especially the crew of the Ace of Spades and the H.M.R.A.S. Valkyrie!
I entered the Mister Steampunk competition this year and while I didn’t win it was a great time and I met many amazing new friends. I could blather on about the con for quite a while, but I think I’ll let the below photoset and video playlist suffice for now.
